Due to extreme deterioration of the existing pavement, median, curbs and sidewalks, this project along a 1.4 mile stretch of 38th Street from Meridian Street to Fall Creek Boulevard, was sorely needed. The mainline pavement was over 40 years old and was patched beyond repair. The median turn lanes at the major intersections were also in very poor condition.

While the existing horizontal and vertical alignments were generally maintained throughout the project limits, the project included decorative crosswalks, planters, lighting and gateway structures at the Meridian Street intersection. The project was completed under traffic using phased construction, which maximized traffic flow and minimized traffic congestion.

In addition to project management, we were responsible for: the design survey; road design; drainage design; signing design; traffic signal design; pavement marking design; right-of-way engineering; erosion control; and maintenance of traffic.
