S.R. 3 Small Structure Replacement over Hodges Branch
Rushville, Indiana
With exposed rebar, spalling concrete and decayed timber wingwalls, this small bridge structure on S.R. 3/Main Street in Rushville was approaching the end of its service life. The purpose of our project was to replace the existing structure and to provide standard clear roadway width, adequate hydraulics and safety devices.
The new structure consists of a 20’ x 7’ x 120’-long reinforced concrete box culvert. Concrete wingwalls were constructed at various skews and sizes to match the existing channel configuration and accommodate the storm sewer outfall pipes. Additional work included the construction of a temporary dam, new curb, and gutter and storm sewer outfalls.
